Corporate Workplace and Retail Projects
Course Description and Purpose
Advanced non-residential projects requiring creative problem solving with emphasis on programming, spatial analysis and open-office systems.
Course Goals and Objectives
- Awareness
- Acquire experience and further knowledge of the design processes for specific non-residential environments.
- Acquire knowledge regarding the design of contract facilities (e.g.: office and retail) including appropriate interior furnishings and finishes, the application of building and accessibility codes, integration of environmentally friendly and sustainable systems (various definitions).
- Acquire knowledge of and potentials within the specification of open office systems.
- Understanding
- Demonstrate design maturation via space planning, use of elements and principles of design, and spatial and functional relationships.
- Competency
- Demonstrate the ability to illustrate and communicate design ideas and solutions through professional level drawings, FF&A specifications, and verbal/graphic presentations.
